Weekly staples to share

With the fast pace of the holiday season, I seem to always be on the go these days. I am getting home later with less energy to cook dinner let alone pack my breakfast and lunch for the next day! If you can relate, I wanted to share two items that I have been loving lately - Fairlife protein shakes and Kevin's thai-style coconut chicken.

  1. Fairlife Protein Shakes

These Fairlife shakes are seriously delicious and filling! I have been having these for breakfast. They are a fabulous on the go option. I can stick one in my pocket as I'm headed out the door and leisurely drink it throughout the morning. Though sometimes I am late enough I have to chug it - time management is something I'm working on! Regardless, these are great for a quick breakfast or one to sip on throughout the morning. They come in strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, and salted caramel. I have tried the chocolate and salted caramel so far. They are available in the protein drink section of Sam's!

The best part is these drinks are lactose free - great for me! The other thing you can't beat is that these drinks have 30 g of protein. These are an awesome way to start on meeting your daily protein goals in the morning. I think that is a huge part of why these keep me so full. I have been drinking one around 7 am, and I do not get super hungry until noon or 1! I usually drink one Fairlife and have two Aussie bites (also from Sam's), a banana, or a small fig bar.

If you are looking for a filling, nutritious, easy, and delicious breakfast option, you need to check out these Fairlife shakes! This specific high protein brand is sold at Sam's but Target carries other Fairlife products including their regular milk and core protein shakes.

2. Kevin's Natural Foods Thai-style Coconut Chicken (and other flavors)

The next item I had to share this week was the Kevin's thai-style coconut chicken from Costco! This is the easiest chicken to prepare, and it is seriously so delicious. The chicken strips are moist and tender. It is very easy to prepare. You heat some oil in a skillet, throw on the chicken, let it brown on each side, and then stir in the sauce letting it simmer for just a few minutes. I usually make some instant rice and throw together a quick bowl with some sort of vegetable (green beans, carrots, brussel sprouts, etc). All together, the entire process takes about 10 minutes, and I have a healthy and nutritious dinner. No stress at all!

Kevin's has several other flavors of chicken including a roasted garlic and cilantro lime to name a few. I have tried both, and they do not disappoint. Both Target and Costco carry Kevin's products. The perk to buying at Costco is that I have a few lunches for the week too. I portion out my dinner, and then I pack the remaining chicken into glass tuberware for quick and easy lunches. I have been buying individual servings of instant rice to heat up at the hospital. It is seriously so easy and tasty! However, if you are not feeding a small army or wanting leftovers, they sell smaller portions at Target as well.

These are just two items that are staples in my refrigerator during my busy days on my surgery rotation. I am all about things that are quick and nutritious - these fit the bill. Next time you are out shopping and feeling like switching up your weekly meals, give these a try!
