Making 2022 the best

Well, we took another little break. Poor Clark was on surgery, and I have been dealing with a little virus surge (you might have heard about? ha!). But we are back to kick off 2022!

I have been the most reflective this month. I took some time to think about how I really want to look back on the upcoming year. I always listen to podcasts just to clear my brain, and one of my favorite is Hal Elrod, author of "The Miracle Morning." He did a recent podcast on making this year the best. His point was how great our year will be has "less to do with what we accomplish (our results) or what happens to us (our circumstances) and everything to do with how we choose to show up and experience each day."

In other words, there are a lot of things we cannot control in our life, and there are a few things we can control. We need to concentrate on working on the things we can control and then how we react to the things we can't control. You have to let the rest go. If we look back and we have done the best we can with what we had, then that is pretty darn good year.

We have control over how we take care of ourselves, how we spend our free time, how mindful we are, and how consistent we are in our every day habits. The rest we really can't do much about. We have to be intentional and stop to think about what we really want the year to look like. Sit down with a blank sheet of paper and just start writing. How do you show up every day, getting the most out of every moment? Are you growing and becoming a better version of yourself?

Stop and ask yourself these questions. Look at the various areas of your life. This blog is obviously about health and wellness, so I will concentrate more on that, but think about other areas - finances, career, relationships (significant other, friends, and family), person growth/development, fun, your faith and resiliency in life. Take the time do this, and then think of small steps you can do that get you moving forward. All of those small steps, add up!! These areas affect your health as well. Remember, if you don't know where you want to go - how in the heck are you going to get there?? This is the only life you will have!!

Over the next few weeks, I am going to write and focus on getting back to the basics. I will start with basic nutrition, and we can build on that. The little steps, we can control to become the best versions of ourselves.
