The Best Go-To Berry Collagen Smoothie

We wanted to share our favorite smoothie recipe. It is only sweetened with the sugar in the berries and is super quick to make for those mornings on the go. It is a great way to start the day. You can just throw it in an insulated cup and are out the door.

The Vital Proteins' Collagen Peptides in this smoothie add 18 grams of protein to help keep you full until your next meal. However, collagen has other benefits as well including stronger and healthier hair, skin, nails, and joints. This specific flavor of collagen has no taste and is a great option to add into smoothies, bowls, or even your morning coffee with no funky after-taste!

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of any non-dairy milk

  • 1/2 of a frozen banana

  • 3/4 cup of frozen berries

  • 1-2 tbsp of Chia Seeds

  • 1-2 tbsp of nut butter or powdered peanut/almond butter

Start by adding the non-dairy milk into the blender. I prefer almond milk, but if you want something a little sweeter, coconut milk may be for you. I use Califia Farms Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk or the Trader Joe's version. Then, add in ½ of a frozen banana. I suggest buying an extra bunch of bananas, letting them get ripe, cutting them in half, and throwing them into a storage bag in the freezer for all your smoothie, bowl, and "ice cream" recipes (coming soon). Add in ~¾ cup of mixed berries; I usually eye-ball this, but it would be a good idea to measure this the first few times you make this smoothie. I throw in the spoonful of Chia Seeds and a heaping spoonful of nut butter. When I know I will be eating sooner rather than later, I use powdered peanut or almond butter. However, if I have a while before my next meal, I typically use Trader Joe's Creamy Almond Butter. Lately, I have been storing my nut butters in the refrigerator, and it makes it so refreshing! Last, for that source of protein that is also beneficial for your hair, skin, and nails, add your serving of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. Enjoy this "treat" that will keep you full into lunch, but don't forget to add a fun straw!
