At Home Protein Chai Latte

With these chilly mornings, there is nothing I have been craving more than a warm beverage. However, if I caved in every day, my coffee budget would be blown immediately! I started to look for a solution to have something warm to sip on in the mornings, especially because I'm not a huge coffee drinker. I found the perfect combination, and I have shared it below - an at home protein Chai Latte!

I have been making this drink every morning I can. It is super quick and delicious - not to mention 20 grams of protein. Adding a milk of your choice and protein powder is a great way to sneak in protein and have your morning cup of coffee or tea stick with you!

What you need:

  • Chai tea bags (I purchase mine from Trader Joe's)

  • Milk (I use almond, could use any!)

  • Protein powder of your choice

Lately, I have been loving the Arbonne Simply One Vanilla protein powder for this combination as it is delicious and contains mostly protein instead of being a meal replacement protein. This way, I can make this drink and have it with some oatmeal, a muffin, toast, or any other breakfast item.

Instructions:

  1. Heat a cup of water in the microwave or on the stove top for 2 minutes.

  2. After the time is up, drop in your tea bag, and set a timer for 5-6 minutes.

  3. After the time is up, take 1/2 cup of your milk and mix it in. I use a frother but could also use a spoon or anything that creates a whisk like effect.

  4. Then, add a scoop or two of protein (one serving) into the mixture. Use the frother to mix it again.

  5. You may need to pop it back in the microwave or stovetop if it got too cool.

  6. ENJOY!

PS: you could also do this with your coffee. Make your hot coffee the way you usually would. When it has cooled slightly, you can mix in the milk and protein powder as above. Enjoy alone for breakfast or combine it with a source of carbs and fat to have a fully rounded out meal. I also make this occasionally in the afternoon if I need a quick pick me up.

Try this out at home, and let us know what you think. Since discovering this combo, I have hardly made any coffee stop trips. Your wallet will thank you!
